La Valse89
Piano Duo
One Passion. Four Hands.
About Us

LaValse89 – a duo born of music and love.
Our paths crossed during our studies, and a shared passion for music soon grew into an artistic partnership. Our duo’s first milestone was preparing Maurice Ravel’s La Valse in 1989 under the artistic guidance of Prof. Andrzej Tatarski. The very title of this piece, which remains a constant in our repertoire, together with the year of its first performance, inspired the name of our duo and became the symbolic beginning of our shared journey — on stage and in life.

Émotions — La Valse ’89
DUX Recording
The album "Émotions," recorded by the piano duo La Valse ’89—Anna Haas-Niewiedział and Piotr Niewiedział—and released by DUX, received the "Selection! ClicMag." editorial award and an exceptionally favorable review in the February issue of the French monthly magazine "ClicMagazine."
"The works for two pianos performed by the Polish duo La Valse ’89 are a tribute to French composers—Ravel and Poulenc—but also to Astor Piazzolla (...). La Valse ’89 interprets Ravel's work in an exceptionally evocative manner, conveying both its chaos and musical intoxication. Francis Poulenc's Sonata for two pianos is a charming composition in which the composer subtly combines seriousness, poetry, and humor (...) The performing duo is delightful—they present these compositions with a richness of sound, extraordinary expression, and full commitment."
Press Reviews
Reviews from newspapers and media coverage
“Listeners had the opportunity to hear salon musical literature in the best sense of the word. Outstanding piano duos are rarely encountered, but Mr. and Mrs. Niewiedział deserve recognition. Spanish, Hungarian dances and Viennese waltzes were received with great enthusiasm by the audience, who demanded encores.”
Gazeta Ostrowska
Pleszew Chamber Music Meetings, December 5, 1999
“Anna Haas-Niewiedział and Piotr Niewiedział with concerts of their Piano Duo La Valse '89 fill a gap in piano recital programs. Anna Haas-Niewiedział and Piotr Niewiedział excellently found themselves in both types of music.”
Kurier Szczecin
Club 13 Muz, May 30, 2001
“The concert proceeded smoothly, also thanks to the great plasticity and good form of the choir as well as the experience of organist Mirosław Gałęski and the piano duo Anna and Piotr Niewiedział.”
Głos Wielkopolski
Nightingale Caroling, January 8, 2002
“Stefan Stuligrosz presented his ensemble with the participation of a piano duo (very musical - Anna and Piotr Niewiedział).”
